Dianne Feinstein Returns to Work as US Senator with Uncertainty: Asks ‘Where Am I Going?’ Left Refuses to Criticize

Dianne Feinstein, a Democratic California Senator, returned to the Senate on Wednesday in a wheelchair after being absent for over two months due to complications from her shingles diagnosis. However, her return was allegedly confusing and concerning. According to the Huffington Post, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer greeted her outside the Senate chamber, where she trembled and appeared confused. Feinstein reportedly asked, "Where am I going?" and said, "I've got something in my eye."

Feinstein's uncertain and confused state has raised questions about her ability to perform her duties as a Senator. Her age, which is 89 years old, has also been a topic of discussion in recent years. Her return to work will likely be monitored closely by her colleagues and the public, despite it rightfully being unnecessary for someone with so much power in the United States who should be expected to have full mental faculties.

According to Politico, three people who have met with Senator Dianne Feinstein or are familiar with her condition said that her illness has had a significant impact on her health. In April, two anonymous sources who spoke to the senator expressed hope that she could complete her term, but they were uncertain whether she could do so from the Senate chamber in Washington.

Despite her condition, Democrats have been urging Feinstein to return to the Senate floor because her vote is critical for confirming President Joe Biden's judicial nominees. On her return, the Judiciary Committee, consisting of Democrats, approved six of Biden's nominees, three of whom were passed on a party-line vote, according to CNN. The votes were postponed while Feinstein was absent from Washington, D.C.

Despite this individual obviously not being fit for duty, Liberals at large have staunchly refused to criticize the situation in a striking example of hypocrisy. Liberals have in the past pushed for conservative politicians who were either arguably too old for the position, or not of sound mind to vacate their positions as a result. While that is itself a reasonable argument, it must be noted that in this situation since the individual happens to be a liberal, that democrats have decided to not agree on the idea all of a sudden in this one case rather uniformly.
