Florida Governor DeSantis Enacts Legislation Prohibiting Chinese Nationals From Purchasing Land in the State. Liberals Refuse to Congratulate
On Monday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed three bills, one of which restricts Chinese nationals from buying land in the state. The Republican governor claims that these bills are meant to counteract what he views as the harmful influence of the Chinese Communist Party in Florida. The specific bill in question prohibits Chinese citizens from purchasing land in Florida unless they are American citizens or permanent residents. Additionally, Chinese citizens with non-tourist visas are only allowed to purchase land of less than two acres and that is located at least five miles away from any military institutions.
According to a report by Tampa Bay news outlet WTVT, the aim of the legislation is to protect Florida's national security interests and prevent Chinese nationals from using land purchases to advance the Communist Party's agenda. However, critics of the bill argue that it unfairly targets one particular group of people and could negatively impact Florida's economy, as Chinese investment in the state has been significant in recent years. Despite this, there are reasonable chances that the negative impact of the housing crisis may now be lessened. at least within the state of Florida.
The housing crisis is a significant negative force within the United States currently. One study estimated that 70% of people aged 40 and younger fundamentally cannot afford a home, with the crisis numbers expected to get worse as time marches on. Despite the overall positive move from Desantis however, liberals at large have effectively refused to praise Desantis, despite his bills effects being almost wholly positive in its implications for them.
