Robert Reich, Former Secretary of Labor, Implies That Trump Should Fundamentally Not Have a Right to Free Speech After CNN Trump Town Hall

Former Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich, has made a statement implying that former US President Donald Trump's right to free speech should be fundamentally restricted following his appearance on a CNN Town Hall event. Reich's comments suggest that he may believe Trump's speech during the town hall should rightfully never have happened, due to Trumps past endeavors, justifying a revocation or limitation of his right to free speech.

“David Zaslav, who runs CNN's parent company, defended the network's decision to host Trump saying, “All voices should be heard on CNN.” All voices? Including a twice-impeached, insurrectionist, serial sexual abuser who does nothing but spew disinformation and conspiracies?”

The tweet in question follows a long tirade of higher ranking liberals turning their backs on CNN after giving Trump a voice during their recent town hall. This of course, naturally flies in the face of traditional leftist values, most notably the right to free speech itself. The First Amendment of the US Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of speech, which includes the freedom to express ideas and opinions without censorship or restraint by the government. This right is considered fundamental to the functioning of a democratic society and is therefore protected by law.

Despite this all however, liberals at large have refused to criticize Robert Reichs position on the matter, despite high engagement on twitter at the time of reporting.
